Apple revealed the A4 based System-on-chip based processor in January last year. Later the same chip was used in iPhone 4, 4th Generation iPod touch and 2nd Generation Apple TV. Now, recently a Hong Kong based newspaper has just reported that, Apple is working on the next generation iPhone. For this purpose, Apple has contacted few Taiwan based suppliers for the components.
Apple is working on ARM architecture based A8 processor that is to be used in Apple’s next generation iPhone. There is no detail about the rumored A8 application processor. However, we believe that A8 processor would consist of a dual-core processor crammed with PowerVR SG543 graphics on same silicon chip.
Apple A4 chip clocked at 1GHz consists of an ARM Cortex A8 processor core and PowerVR SG535 graphics that is crammed on a single die of silicon. It is powerful enough to offer high-resolution graphics on iPad, iPhone 4, fourth generation iPod touch.
As of now, none of these details are officially confirmed by Apple. But we can expect that a dual core processor iPhone with powerful graphics chip surely seems like a feasible option for Apple.
