There is a real good news for all iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad users. Earlier today, popular developer Pod2g released a video in which he shows an iPod Touch 4G jailbroken untethered on iOS 5. Afterwards, while replying to a question from his followers on twitter, he told that he will be working on the iOS 5.0.1 untethered jailbreak too. To add to it, there is a possibility that iPhone 4S and iPad 2 will also be in compatibility list.
For those who don’t know, untethered jailbreak is a type of jailbreak where your device does not require you to reboot with a connection to an external device capable of executing commands on the device. You can reboot your device anywhere any time.
Upcoming untethered jailbreak will support devices like the iPod touch 3G/4G, iPhone 3GS/4 and iPad on iOS 5.0 and iOS 5.0.1 as well (after testing). At the moment, the only choice is to jailbreak tethered on iOS 5 / 5.0.1 using Redsn0w or Sn0wbreeze. We suggest to install SemiTether package to your devices to reboot your device with limited functionality.
