Has an update to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich taken away the root access on your phone or tablet? If so, we have found a universal root method for almost all devices running ICS, Android 4.0, 4.0.1, 4.0.2, 4.0.3, 4.0.4,……,4.0.x. All credit goes to XDA Senior Member Phil3759 for bringing up the all in one guide.

Root Android 4.0.x ICS On Any Device

Many users have been thriving to gain root access on their devices after getting an update to Android 4.0. Updating the firmware results in losing the root access. You will have to find a way to root it again. And in some cases, the exploits used to root a device on a particular firmware could get fixed with an update to the firmware, so that new exploits needs to be found to get root access again. If it doesn’t get closed, you can still use the very same method you tried with the previous firmware.

We don’t guarantee that these methods always works on all devices and on all different ICS versions, but if you are so desperate to root your device, you can give them a try on your risk. Attempt it only if you are sure with what you are doing. If you are a beginner, it would be better to search and learn some basics before get into it.

Phil3759 provides a number of methods in the forum thread given here. The guide is applicable to most devices. Have a look through everything before you go forward with something. If you face any trouble, you can post it on the very same thread and you could get some help there.
