We’ve got yet another universal root method for many Jelly Bean and ICS devices from XDA. XDA Recognized Developer Bin4ry came up with a script which is supposed to root almost all Android 4.0.x (Ice Cream Sandwich) and 4.1.x (Jelly Bean) running devices.

The script exploits an issue in the adb restore service to make the root possible on many devices.

Universal Root for Jelly Bean and ICS Devices

At the moment, several device owners tested the script and have waved the green flag. They include many Xperia series devices (Xperia S, P, U, Sola, Acro S) running ICS and the newly out Google Nexus 7 running Jelly Bean. But many others are also coming up and hopefully it covers many more devices.

How to use the Universal Root script

It’s pretty easy. Download the script from here, unzip it, open the RunMe.bat file and do as the program instructs.
