Apart from the untethered jailbreak for iOS 5, MuscleNerd has also announced some good news. MuscleNerd is actually adding support of both major operating systems, Mac OS X and Windows, in the upcoming Redsn0w that will allow downgrading on iOS 5 and above. Before this, the only way of downgrading was by using iFaith v1.4, but now MuscleNerd will release an updated Redsnow which will make it easier for the Mac OS X users to downgrade their iPhones, iPod Touches and iPads to a lower firmware versions. MuscleNerd released this news through twitter. Check out the screenshot of his tweet.

Updated RedSn0w to Downgrade iOS 5.0.1 Coming Soon

iH8snow updated the iFaith tool to version 1.4 sometime earlier this week and now it can save iOS 5.0.1 SHSH blobs. TinyUmbrella can save only iOS 5.0 +SHSH blobs and cannot restore them. This is a major problem for the users who want to downgrade iOS 5.0.1 to iOS 5.0 on their Mac as there is no software available for this purpose and iFaith is only available for Windows.

The Dev team has recently released Redsn0w 0.9.9b1 and has added many new features into it which includes its ability to jailbreak without IPSW, to create custom firmware by stitching SHSH blobs etc. SHSH blobs can be saved by using tinyumbrella,iSHSH and iFaith and still if anyone has updated their device to iOS 5.0.1 they will have to downgrade it to iOS 5.0 otherwise they would not be able to enjoy upcoming untethered jailbreaking of iOS 5 as it has already been announced that untethered jailbreak will not compatible with iOS 5.0.1 (Update: iOS 5 Untethered Jailbreak Might Support iOS 5.0.1 As Well). Release date of the updated Redsnow version is not yet announced, but there is a possibility that it will be released over the weekend.
