The much awaited iPhone 5 has been announced and would be starting to ship from the 21st of this month. Though iPhone 5 produced disappointment in many, including many Apple lovers, it is still having the firm grip to hold on and selling out of pre-orders in about an hour proves it.
In this post anyway, we are not going to talk about ‘the big iPhone 5’ anymore. Instead, we’ll be talking about when it’ll be out and how you could buy one without contract.
Apple will be putting the new iPhone on sale from 21st of September in U.S., Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Japan and Singapore and will be releasing it on 22 other countries a week from then.
Among the first 8 countries they will be releasing it, in U.S., Apple will be joining with service providers like AT&T and Verizon and will be selling only with contract starting from $199 and hence you can’t buy one without a contract from there. In Japan also, users will be tied to a particular network.
Special note for U.S. users : Though Apple’s online stores doesn’t sell iPhone 5 without contract, AT&T and Verizon does it through their websites. You could opt for ‘Month-to-Month’ and ‘No Commitment’ options on Verizon’s and AT&T’s official websites respectively.
But from others, you will be able to buy iPhone 5 without contract. So, if you have some relative, friend or whomsoever in those countries or where it’ll be available later, you could buy an unlocked iPhone 5 from there.
Else, you could go for online shopping services like ebay and get yourself one from there (the prices could be high though).
But if U.S. retail stores are your only hope, you don’t need to be disappointed because Apple usually comes up with the unlocked model of their latest iPhone after a time period of about 2 months in the United States or refer to the above special note if you are a U.S. resident.
